I was lucky enough to be part of team engaged into creation of fur system for this spot purposes. It was a very value lesson for me; teaching how to deal with this kind of stuff because i've never worked before on fur systems in big productions. My job was to grow and comb fur for a jackdaw. Cloud simulation: LOT - The future is our horizon

I've recently worked on R&D and creation of couldscape for this project realised in Platige Image. You can see final effect on the one shot before last, so take a good look ! :) Clouds were volumetric, fully done in fume fx. Tricky thing to do but fun and worth time i've spend on R D.

Realflow python foam script

While waiting for Realflow 2013 I've created a foam script that i've created in Python for my Realflow projects purposes. Foam script is created to give user an option to precise control automatic foam creation process.

Main features of this tool are:

  • Foam creation under several main conditions: velocity, vorticity, pressure tresholds
  • Script smoothly changes mass of fluid particles to selected foam mass to allow more naturally behavior.
  • Auto kill foam after  random values inside your time limits.
  • Script autosets resolution for foam to match the master resolution to avoid problems.
  • User can select a node below which foam is created (for a case when you pour one object from another)
  • Foam can transfer back to fluid after some time.

Because its pretty complex and there is a lot of options to set i've wrote a handy little script that allows user to track values of particles manually. I will make it public soon and drop here a link so stay tuned.

Particles R&D

I've recently spend some time with Realflow and 3ds Max particle systems. Here are some tests i did while learning this stuff. I think that in near future i will be able to show some first commercial things i did with techniques i've learned ! Cannot wait to do some more crazy stuff ! :) Go straight to Vimeo to see that in better quality: http://vimeo.com/33996875

Nike - take it to the max

A few months ago i was working on something you can see below.. I was doing the 3d text for the one of Nike's 2010 t-shirt collection created by Ars Thanea. 2d is a job of Peter Jaworowski.

Mojito Islands

Huh,

I was involved in creating a interesting project lately. All the 3d was done in modo 401. I wish that future versions of modo will have nore tools for animations and pass rendering. Anyway, if you have any questions - send me an info. The video you can see here:

Render in progress

Just a fast update to post some frames from private things im doing right now. First is remastered Audi i've made a year ago; and second picture is a frame from animation i did for my old, temporary demo reel. I hope that i will make new version soon :) Ah, there is a also something with water.. Yeah, just a practice

coke characters - rejected

Recently I had to prepare new version of coke festival characters for coca-cola. Client didn't like the conversion from 2d to 3d but its no problem for me. Maybe someone else will like it :)

XSI lessons - WIP

Hi,

I wanted to show something i'm working at the moment. It's part of a bigger project - my first steps using XSI. Model was provided by my friend Sebastian Zielinski. I want to learn how to animate, light and shade in softimage fast so i hope that i will post something more soon ! :)

Seeker, first scene

There are first scenes from the wip im working on right now. I will do new enviro soon maybe. And play with the live action footage.

seeker wip2 from Paeu on Vimeo.

The seeker WIP

Here's some screens from a next private project i'm doing right now. I dont have much spare time nowadays but still keep learning. Inspired with the first matrix movie seekers i did all this things from scratch from rig, model to hdri. I'm planning to combine it with live-action footage in next week. That machine is still in developing stage so i think that the final look can differ a bit.. I have some issues with the maya 2009 render layers and importing 32 bit images into After Effects. Don't know why but the preset depth pass from maya couldn't be loaded to AFx.

Ferrari Animation

Here's a wip of the ferrari animation i did in modo. After recent projects i did 100% in modo i have conclusion that the use of this software for an animation is to time expensive in oposition to the mental ray. I had my settings pretty high but i can still see some flickering of fotons / reflections. Trying to get rid of that could push the rendering time of frame over the 15 min on my machine. The lack of custom render passes in batch, limitations of the processes shaders makes me stick to the mental ray for a long time for an animation purposes (till the iray will come). I have no idea is it possible even to render motion vectors pass in modo. I hope that the version 402 or 501 will push some things forward. Node shadering system like in lightwave will be a great gift. Ok. No more bitching. Its a good software anyway ;')

Ferrari render from Paeu on Vimeo.

The Symbol

I did that as short project (2days) as a maya lesson. I don't have much time lately but i've made this animation in spare time between projects and sleeping :) I'm quite happy with the result but there is always something i would like to improve and make better in next projects like that.

The Symbol from Paeu on Vimeo.

Ferrari WIP

Here's something im working at the moment. I'm planning to do short animation with this ferrari. I did texturing, lighting and shade of this model, all in modo. Background is photogeometry. Im not 100% happy with the final result yet but it's good test of modo 401 for me.

Alfa Romeo

Thats my first try to shade and render car 100% in modo 401. Im a big fan of this application and i wanted to see what's new in 401 version. There is a lot of AA flickering in motion but i was doing that on the 50$ bucks machine so i didn't wanted waste to much of my time. Anyway im quite happy with the final result. The paint shader could be better and less shine'y but i like it that way.

Alfa Romeo from Paeu on Vimeo.

Some random stills

There is some random stills i did last days in modo. Third of them is an concept of a motion design scene i would like to do. That was made really fast because i was using some free models from internet (NASA sattelite from their site) and the speakers made by Piotr Korab. That was made for client but he chose another version. So maybe someday in spare time i will do mine :)

picturefobic blog

I'm Paweł Wilkos and this blog is created to present an audience some of my works made in 2d/3d. I'm mainly using Luxology modo for modeling and maya with mental ray to do other 3d related stuff. I'm always open for every feedback from readers so do not hesitate to leave a comment or say that something looks bad :)

Picturefobia -  the fear of pictures looking to real.  Quite good blog title for the young 3d adept like me. :)
